Michelle Thorne is a lighting designer and technical manager based in Melbourne. She enjoys designing for theatre, dance and live installation art.
She is a graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts where she specialised in Performance Technology and Lighting Design. This is also where she met her business partner Siobhan Geaney and together, they now own Lambent Design.
Michelle enjoys paperwork, chaos, meeting people, collaborating with directors and artists from all fields to create bold and evocative designs which lead audiences on an emotional journey through the work. She also enjoys being a boss lady and leading an enthusiastic team to success.
She is currently working with Australian company Briefs Factory as their Touring Technical Manager for numerous shows including Briefs: Close Encounters. The team is currently roving the world, stunning audiences with their highly physical and technical show.
Michelle has previously completed secondments with Paul Jackson (Double Indemnity, MTC 2016) and Assembly Festival (Edinburgh Fringe, 2016).
